When I was around 9 years old, I was introduced to fly fishing. A neighbor guy would take me trout fishing with spinning rods and worms. One day he pulled out a bamboo fly rod and we began my lessons. I was 'hooked' from the first botched cast! This then led to my interest in making flies.
I have been tying trout and steelhead flies from about 10 years old. They were never anything special, but they would get the job done. As I matured, my skills got better as, did my flies. Around 7 years ago, i was introduced to John Kopczyk. He was just getting into fly fishing and tying at the time. As our friendship grew, he was introduced to classic salmon flies. He would send me info and pictures on the subject, but I really had no interest at the time. 5 years ago, I made my first purchase from John Mclain. This started the downhill slide. With the help from Jon and John, I slowly made this journey.
I have been tying classic and artistic flies religiously for about 3 years. I love the challenge of this hobby. My interest in the hobby has grown greatly. Leading to dyeing, material subs, making silk gut and reworking hooks. I am always learning and have met a lot of people that have helped me. Looking forward to expanding my knowledge and making more friends on the way.
