I am a 48 year old fisherman from Scotland who is privileged to have so many famous rivers and lochs on my doorstep. Within 30 minutes to 1 hour I can be on the banks of the River Tay for salmon fishing or casting a fly for wild brown trout and sea trout on a small rivers or lochs.

My earliest fishing memories are from the age of 6 years old when my father would take me fishing. Those hours spent with my father ignited a passion not just for fishing but also for fly tying that has grown and grown over the years. There is no better feeling than catching a fish on a fly that you spend time tying at the vice. My introduction to fly tying was at secondary school when my Deputy Head teacher gave me a fly tying vice which had been made as a project at the school. I have him to blame for the addiction which is collecting feathers, fur and tinsel.

I have now tied flies in many different countries as guests at fishing shows, what I love about fly tying that everyone has their own styles and ideas. What someone thinks is wrong others think as beautiful. We are all unique in what we do but we all share the same passion. As well as tying fishing flies I have a passion for the old Grub patterns and Dee Flies which are a pleasure to tie and I also have a small collection of vintage flies which I can use for reference and see how the experts in the days gone by used.
