As a young fishing enthusiast I was fortunate to live in Goffstown, NH, this was within a bicycle ride of a small fly shop "Hunters Angling Supplies ". I would ride my bike to the shop almost weekend. As I frequented the shop and being ignored for the most part it was a surprise when an older gentleman wearing thick glasses and sporting a mustache said to me as I rummaged through the assortment of flies "all you need is a few of them Hornbergs"! Taking his advice I grabbed what I could afford and waded out to the river that ran next to the shop. Little did I know that I had just bought flies from one of the most influential people in my fly tying and fishing career, Bill Hunter!
Later I began tying flies for Bill and other shops as well. Before I was 15 I worked part time for Don Dobrowski who owned the Fisherman's Hut in Manchester, NH. From then on my livelihood had begun. Since then I have worked in the industry as cashier, order taker, rigger, salesman, buyer, guide and sales rep!
Being employed in this industry brought many opportunities to meet, fish and tie flies with some of the most influential professionals in the industry. However, Bill Hunter introduced me to the Classic salmon fly, it's history, it's characters, the fish themselves and most importantly the respect for a well tied fly.
Since then I have studied the different styles of different tyers and as we all do developed my own style. Now I currently have an interest in converting Classic salmon fly into Carrie Stevens style streamers which I have called AC/DC. These sets have gained much interest amongst my fellow tyers and I often have traded my works with others.
I continue my art to this day and contribute to future enthusiasts through demonstrations.
Full Flex wishes,
