I have been tying flies for nearly 40 years now, beginning with very basic nymphs and trout lures for
my own fishing.
Gradually my horizons widened and I now tie just about everything. I have tied and or exhibited at
shows in the United States, Germany, Italy, Ireland (North and South) and of course the UK.
I was lucky enough to be invited to the first ASFI in Seattle and was blown away by the collective
talent on display.
My “classic” tying is limited by time and materials but I do tie a lot of salmon hairwings for fishing in
the UK and have an interest in Waddington shanked flies. I look forward to meeting new friends and
old.
I am the General secretary of The Fly Dresser’s Guild, a not for profit organization that seeks to
encourage fly tying in all its forms and ensure the future of our wonderful addiction. Part of that role
is sourcing and writing articles for our in house magazine, Flydresser and I hope to find inspiration
amongst the great and good at the show.
